Introduction

This list of selections serves as a supplement to the Construction Documents (CD’s). Some of the selections below may be difficult to find or omitted on the CD’s. Check the CD’s for consistency with this list. Clarify with your contractor which document takes precedence for any inconsistencies.

Appliances and equipment may require unique rough plumbing, electrical, heating or exhaust requirements early in the construction process. Therefore, try your best to select all of these items and review them with your contractor at the beginning of the construction phase.

If you intend to install a separate freezer, in addition to your refrigerator, this information is important to give to your electrician so that the total power load can be determined.

Fireplace Manufacturer & Model #

The limitations on the exhaust duct path from the fireplace to the exterior should be known during rough framing. There may be minimum and maximum vertical distances from fireplace box to the exhaust opening. Some fireplace boxes may need to be raised up a minimum distance above a wood floor. Some combustible wall finishes may be prohibited directly adjacent to the fireplace. Read the specifications for your fireplace thoroughly to be aware of these requirements.

 

Introduction

It is common for appliance vendors to install appliances after cabinets, countertops, flooring painting are complete. Extreme care should be taken to avoid scratching or damaging existing finishes during the installation of appliances. Make sure all appliance selections are complete.

 

Organization of Materials & Delivery Dates

  1. Verify schedule for delivery and install of each appliance.
  2. Built-in wall ovens may require special coordination with your electrician. For instance, the location of the outlet may need to be adjusted on site to fit into a precise cavity in the rear panel of the wall oven.
  3. Dishwashers and may require special coordination with your electrician and plumber.
  4. Refrigerators with water dispensing will require the plumber to install a small water feed to the wall behind the refrigerator.
  5. If you selected a gas range, you need to make sure the plumber installed a gas feed to the location of your oven/range.

 

Upon Completion of Appliance Install

  1. Inspect for any damage to the exterior finish of each appliance.
  2. Read manufacturer’s specifications and instructions for each appliance.
  3. Test for proper operation of each appliance.
  4. Report any defects immediately.
